Road Trip – The adventure bikes hit the road
After a long and frustrating weekend at the Idaho City ISDE qualifier, it was time to hit the road for a little R&R. That is if you can call 15-18 hour-long days on adventure bikes relaxing. I have been riding with JC Hilderbrand from MotorcycleUSA and we have been splitting time between a KTM 690R and a BMW F800GS. We hit the road Tuesday afternoon and worked our way east and then north through Idaho City, Atlanta, Ketchum, Salmon, Missoula and then west across Highway 200 to land in Sandpoint last night.
Along the way we were turned back on three different mountain passes due to snow. The late snows have left many of the high areas still melting out. We saw all kind of things including: one bear, two moose, three snowshoe rabbits, 100 or so dear, one badger and one pickup in the river.
This weekend in Sandpoint we will be doing the Selkirks Rally, we start riding again tomorrow. You can check out more of the story on JC’s blog at MotorcycleUSA.com
