Boy how the time flies. June was a busy month for us, spending almost half of it in Idaho. I was going to get out and either go riding or get back on my mtn bike today, big plans. Then I realized that Red Bud was on. The first 450 moto was broadcast online and what a barn burner it was. Townley, Dungey and Reed really went at it, I am glad I stayed home to see it. Dungey is looking like a sure thing for the championship this year, no one else is really riding at the same level and intensity.
Red Bud also saw two offroaders come out to give it a go. Josh Strang qualified for his first national ever and Mike Brown stepped in for the injured Tommy Searle. Alessi sure looks like he is trying, but struggling on the 350.
By the way, has anyone else noticed that there is a 450 rider, Mills, listed as riding a 450xcf? Technically this is an offroad model, I wonder if anyone recently has ridden the nationals on an enduro bike.
This site really is not about motocross, but you have admit that the outdoors is tough and the riders are really deserving of some respect. Much of the track often looks like a hare scrambles with jumps, huge jumps. It sure is fun to watch.
The Idaho city qualifier was a great event this year, but my results were pretty bad. Following that we spent some time working on some features for MotorcycleUSA. This included adventure riding on a KTM 690 and a BMW 800GS. I have just finished writing the text for this comparison. Not sure when it will post, but I don’t think it is even scheduled yet.
We also worked on a travel story to accompany it and finally a story on the ride I promoted in Sandpoint the following weekend. The Selkirks North Idaho Rally was a first time effort for myself and Kurt and Martha from Black Dog Cycle works. We had both ADV riders and some dirt bike guys. Again, a write up on it will post soon on MotorcycleUSA.
Once back home I was able to get away to Mexico to do a little “work”, putting together some of the trail for the forthcoming Baja Beach Bash with Tim Morton from Baja Bound. I need to find the pic of me standing on the dead whale to show everyone.
We head back this week to finish up the trails and the event is next weekend. Maybe I can get some posts together from the event. I am still working on figuring out how to do remote posting to the site from my phone. Although I have figured out how to post to facebook from the phone, so that is a start.
