That is right, we have a new Gasser on the way to test. As the ISDE has just finished up in Morelia Mexico, it is appropriate that it will be a six day model bike. My plan is to get it prepped and race at the upcoming Tecate enduro. I have been talking some with Clay Stuckey the new GasGas importer and he is pretty excited about the response from dealers and enthusiasts around the country. So it sounds like they are off to a good start. Clay is a long time racer with a pretty impressive resume both in off road racing and motorcycle industry experience. Here is a little from Clay about what is happening at GasGas Off Road US.
Uncrating the 2011 GasGas bikes
We started as the new distributor on August 1st, 2010. We had originally hoped to set up about 50 Gas Gas dealers in the next 12 months and to sell around 300 2011 units. We already have 43 Gas Gas Offroad dealers and we have sold or pre sold about 250 units. We have added another 150 units to the 2011 order. The factory is very happy with our success and is very willing to help us meet the demand here. They also have indicated that they are willing to listen to input from the US on model changes and updates.
Reception from dealers and consumers has been extremely favorable to the 2011 model. The red frame and plastic

will definitely get your attention. The 2011 Gas Gas is the best handling motorcycle I have ever ridden. The engines are very strong but the power is very usable. The 2011s will come with an Ohlins shock and a Marzocchi fork which is an excellent and proven combination.
We have agreed to support around 20 riders scattered across the US. Some like Cole Kirkpatrick, Jeff Melik, Jordan Brandt and Carsten Cagle plan to ride the National Enduro Series. One of our requirements, though, is that all of our riders compete in some local/regional series. We believe in a grassroots type of support and think this type of participation by our racers will allow them to come in contact with more potential Gas Gas customers.
We have shipped about 5 bikes to aftermarket and suspension companies like Enduro Engineering and Bulletproof Designs so that they can build bolt on protection and swag for Gas Gas Motorcycles. We understand that acceptance of our motorcycles by the aftermarket supplier is key to our success.
Thanks for testing our bike. Hope you like it! Clay.
Testing 2009 GasGas at ISDE qualifier
The last Gasser we tested was the 2009 EC300. I raced that bike at the Idaho City qualifier that year. Overall I really liked it. It had a few shortcomings, so I am looking for some improvements on the new model, specifically suspension and braking. The motor has lots of torque so it should be the perfect choice for the Tecate enduro that I expect to be long and technical.
