KTM Factory Team Prepares for the SCORE Baja 1000
17 year old Ensenada native Ivan Ramirez will be the lead off rider for the KTM squad in next week’s Baja 1000. Ivan hopes to become the first Mexican rider to win the overall at the famous 1000 mile race.
Ivan represented Mexico as one of the junior riders
Ivan has been pretty busy lately. He has just returned home from competing in the 2010 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE) in Morelia Mexico. In this annual international race he represented his home country in the Junior division. He finished 25th in class and won a gold medal against the very best riders in the world. Coincidently he also finished right behind American rider Timmy Weigand who will also be racing the Baja.
Even at such a young age, Ivan has already raced the Baja three times and has caught the eye of many Baja regulars as someone with plenty of talent and determination. He has a full schedule as he attends school all day and then heads out to pre-run his section of the race course in the afternoon.
“My name is IVAN RAMIREZ, I´m 17 years old and I´m from Ensenada Baja California. Ensenada is very famous for its food like fish taco and lobster. Many people come to Ensenada for BAJA 1000 which is pretty nice race. I´ve been racing BAJA since 2007. This time I´m going to be a part of the Bonanza Plumbing/FMF/KTM Factory Off Road Racing Team and I´m very proud of being part of this team because I know we will do an excellent job. I´m going to start the race and I will do my best for keeping the bike in front."
