Team Precision Concepts Race Reports
It’s been a real hectic start to the new year. So much to do in so little time. But we are up and rolling now and things are starting to flow. As you can see we have picked up a new dealer for our team. John Burr Cycles in Fontana. We a excited to have this partnership as they are very big off road enthusiasts. We are running riders in the Pro, Pro-2, and Pro-2 Lites this year.
Soboba Grand Prix Jan. 15th, 2011
Robby Bell Pro 2nd
This was held at the Soboba Indian Reservation and is an all weekend event that wraps up with Pro races on Sunday. The race has some mx sections, sand washes, and a lot trails in the hills. Robby got a third place start with Bobby Garrison flying out front. By the end of the first loop, Robby moved to second, about 20 seconds behind Garrison. The next two laps had Robby back to 25 seconds back. The two leaders had put over two minutes on the rest of the field. With two laps remaining in the 1 hour 45 minute race, Robby put on a charge closing to 13 seconds in one lap. Then a problem occurred with his rear axle and he lost his nut. His chain derailed. He got it back on and headed back to the pits. After a three minute repair, he was going again, still in second. At the finish it was :
Bobby Garrison 1st
Robby Bell 2nd
Justin Soule 3rd
Ty Renshaw 4th
WORCS round one Jan 28-30, 2011 Taft, CA.
Robby Bell 8th Pro
Gary Sutherlin 11th Pro
Justin Seeds 2nd Pro-2
Jack Achey 12th Pro-2 Lites
3rd 250F A
The weekend was marked by tragedy with the passing of Nathan Woods. Saturdays Pro race was changed to a tribute ride for Nathan, and everyone celebrated his life in their own way. It was a class move by Sean Reddish.
The biggest set back we had was Jack Achey losing his clutch on the last lap and dropping from a possible win to 12th. Starts were the biggest problem in the Pro and Pro-2 classes. With the new format, it is really important to be up front early. Robby and Gary gated mid pack. They both made passes, but just ran out of time to get up higher.
WORCS round two Feb. 26-27, 2011 Primm NV.
Gary Sutherlin 7th Pro Sat.
6th Pro Sun.
Robby Bell 8th Pro Sat.
8th Pro Sun.
Justin Seeds 1st Pro-2
Jack Achey 3rd Pro-2 Lites
13th 250F A
The Primm track is held out back of the casinos and is mostly flat desert. It is higher speed than most the other courses and is all about sand riding ability. It was windy and cold with some rain, hail, and even a little snow. The Pros had their biggest turnout in some time with 31.
Justin Seeds recovered from his 5th place in the 450 race, taking the holeshot in the Pro-2s. He rode a flawless race and stretched his lead all race passing well into the Pro ranks. Jack Achey continues to improve in the Pro-2 Lites taking third, only 20 seconds from first. Gary and Robby continue to put in solid rides in the Pro ranks, and are less than two points from top five in the points.
District 37 Big Six GP Mar. 5-6, 2011 Glen Helen, CA.
Robby Bell 1st Heavyweight Ex. Sat.
1st Heavyweight Ex. Sun.
Justin Seeds 3rd Heavyweight Ex. Sat.
4th Heavyweight Ex. Sun.
This race is always good practice for the WORCS race here later this year. With a good cross section of mx, the truck course, and the ridges, it is challenging and fun.
Robby started Sat. in third but quickly moved to the lead. He rode smooth and consistent and pulled away to over 45 seconds ahead at the finish. Justin hole shot, then fell back to third. As the race went on, he pushed the pace back up, and nearly caught second at the checkered.
In Sundays race, Robby gated second and took his time to learn the many course changes on the first lap. On lap two, he passed into first and stretched away. At the finish, he was nearly one minute up. Justin ran third, but developed a problem with his steering damper post that hindered his steering. He fought through it to take a hard earned fourth.
The next WORCS race up is Lake Havasu Mar. 25-27. We will be working to keep improving our results and continue to represent our team and our sponsors in the best way possible. There are more videos coming and more pictures at each of the races. Thanks again for all the support as we could not be there without you.
