Kendall Is Back
JCR Honda’s Kendall Norman gets back to his winning ways, bringing home victory at round 6 of the AMA National Hare and Hound series in Lucerne Valley Ca. Almost dead last off the line, Kendall swung way out to the right side of the line to quickly work his way to the front of the pack. By check 1 he was in second position behind Kurt Caselli who has dominated the season so far. At the end of the first loop Kendall was still hounding Caselli. Kurt would take a pretty good spill, landing in a cactus patch on the second loop. That would allow Kendall to get by and hold the lead all the way to the finish.
Jake Argubright continues to improve, this time making to the second position on the podium. He appears to be right on the verge of surpassing many of the long time series leaders.
Caselli would gather it back together after his crash to salvage a third place finish. A little ways back came David Pearson in fourth.
Both Husky riders finished the race. Nick Burson crashed early and bent his shift lever, so he had to ride the entire first loop stuck in third gear. He passed me after he crashed and then I started to catch him back on the lake bed. Of course I was wondering why he was going so slow, but of course he only had a top speed of about 55 in third gear. Nick finished 20th overall. Ryan Kudla also had a spectacular crash coming into check 1, he would remount to finish 22nd.
Paul Schafer won the senior class again, finishing 25th to my 29th. That gives me second in class again. I did not have a great day, but it was ok. I crashed in the second loop trying to pass a rider in the rocks. The crash was not much, but I took a handle bar to the ribs. It hit just outside my chest protector and knocked the wind out of me. That cost me a couple of positions. My ribs are very sore now, it is one of those things where it hurts to do almost any thing. Even just bending down is a real challenge right now. Hopefully it will heal up quick.
