2011 ISDE – Day One Results Update
2011 ISDE Gets Started
2011 Team USA Trophy riders ready to start ISDE
KTM rider Eero Remes dominates day 1, winning nearly every test. Salmines and Caselli stay close all day with consistent rides. Kurt leads the E1 class.
Note: club rider scores are just starting to come in, lots of time penalties inlcuding 14 min for Freddette and then they start adding up quickly behind him. So I am not sure what is going on right now, only 4 women have are showing as finishing the day so far. This may be turning out to be really hard, so stay tuned.
Here are a few quotes from the riders Facebook pages:
Colton Udall – Today didn’t go so good! I broke my footpeg bracket off on a rock and rode the whole day o one leg. I fell behind 11 minutes and all I can do is help the team now, so that is what I will do! Go Team USA
Brent Martell -OK. So I made a lot of mistakes today and did not ride well at all. I have no idea how I finished it let alone worry about placement. I stuffed myself in some holes and physically got beat down. I dropped 1 min at the check as there was confusion about my time. I lost 3 mins due to mud holes and bad decisions, then I lost another min getting pulled over by the police. Bad bad bad day. The good news is that I did not break anything on my body. This course is dangerous.
Ian Blythe-Up and then down first day of ISDE here in finland. Found the zone and nailed a few tests, but then got a speeding ticket, then destroyed my bike, then crashed and dislocated my shoulder, Then re grouped stayed solid in the last two tests with no clutch at all. Repaired my bike and hoping to improve and be able to help the team tomorrow. Sorry to disappoint everyone!
Mandi Mastin– To bad EnduroX X-games isn’t next weekend…..Today was like riding 8 hours of Endurox!! Rocks, mud and tree roots….I sure got some training in for next year…
Bob Heinzerling-It was a rough day. Started out in the rain and it lasted until about noon. Turned the terrain in to rock/mud soup… was really tough. The special tests got so torn up too, it was rough everywhere. I crashed a few times, broke my clutch lever which made the second half of the day miserable. Rain is forecast for tomorrow and we ride the same 200 mile course again. Ugh. Going to bed now…
