2011 ISDE Finland – Day 2 Results
Another Hard Day
Remes continues ahead of the pack
Final times are just starting to come in for the Day. Another steady day for Kurt Caselli, fourth overall on the day and still first in the E2 class. Eero Remes leads all day, Salminen continues in second and Tarkkala jumps to third in the overall standings.
USA Trophy team has a solid day, overall positions
4. Kurt Caselli
Colton Udall has a 16 minute time penalty today. I assume this was to fix the broken footpeg mount on his Honda. He broke it on a rock yesterday and had to ride most of the day without it.
US Junior Team has mixed results, great day for Buttrick but Ian Blythe has more problems
59. Andrew Delong
109. Cody Schafer
127. Ian Blythe
US Womens Team out – Mandi Mastin went out today, look like mechanical problems. She was the last of the 3 women to still be running.
Club Riders – Fred Hoess continues as the absolute standout of the group. Today he was 6th overall club rider! Max Gerston was also strong again, 13th in C2 class. Caleb Wohletz is 18th in C2 and Jake Vainio is 17th in C3. Behind them it pretty much looks like a struggle just to survive.
My Buddy Brent Martell is looking good in the tough conditions. Jeff Fredette is just behind him, having taken another 14 min time penalty today. Greg Gillian rode well but had a big time penalty, he also couldn’t pass sound check at impound, so last we heard he was working on that.
Here are some Facebook and Twitter comments:
Destry Abbott – “Day 2 is over and boy I’m happy it is! We did move up to 3rd overall as a team (trophy team), which is awesome. My day started off really well in the first test and I moved up to 19th overall in the standings. I stayed there for the next couple test but the rain was coming down and it was really slick. In test 4 I had a huge crash into a tree and from that point on my day went bad. I’m really sore and on pain killers now. I’ll be good and just going to keep plugging away (26th now)”.
Brent Martell – “OK so I guess I should say that I did zero all the checks. Changed a rear tire, oil, and airfilter. I needed to put on a new front but didn’t have time. My bars are bent and I may have to replace them. It is weird riding with them cockeyed”.
Nate Kanney -“In tomorrows tests I think I can use the other half of the 505’s horses that have been tied up”!
Ian Blythe -“Gooned out and lost 4 route points but then stayed consistent and then crushed the last test. Shoulder felt better and better all day, I am ready to push tomorrow”.
Jeff Fredette “day 2 is over and it went ok. i dropped 3 minutes putting a new radiator on in a driving rain. it is working great and the day went better than day one. i am a little worried about my silencer as i had to modify it a lot to pass sound and now it is starting to get loose. if it comes apart not sure what i will do to pass sound test if they check me again. tomorrow is a new trail but is to be a lot of road. will see how it goes”!
