Impressive victory for Husaberg’s Graham Jarvis at Canada’s premier Extreme Offroad event!
A rider field of 58 riders began the day of attacking the qualifier course, trying to survive the inevitability of XTINCTION!Every rider was offered the opportunity to ride the qualifier course, which consisted of a grass track and a short portion of the Badland course, for 2 hrs or 4 laps, which ever came first. 18 riders would face XTINCTIONin the qualifier, leaving 40 riders for the main event.
Mike Brown led the qualifier with 4 laps, utilizing his extensive motocross skills to stretch his lead over 2nd place Bobby Prochnau, 3rd place Factory Husaberg’s Nick Fahringer, 4th Flite Husaberg/GoldenTyre’sGraham Jarvis, and 5th place finisherKyle Redmond.
A shotgun blast rang through the valley to start the main event Le Mans style. Mike Brown proved he’s not just quick on a motorcycle but quick on his feet, as he was the first runner to get to his bike and ride into the course. The first few moments of the main course ran on fresh, open trail, winding up and around the valley floor before it headed into the badlands and the rough technical single track. Mike’s lead was soon surrendered as Graham Jarvis was the first to finish one lap of the 13 km loop. He continued to put on a charge and made another couple minutes on the field during the second lap, averaging 27 minute lap times. The top five riders had established themselves, as Mike Brown, Kyle Redmond, Nick Fahringer, and Bobby Prochnau battled for the top five positions, gapping themselves from the rest of the field.
The first rider to ride under the finish line Red Bull arch and the man who would take home the Omega Transport $5000 first place prize, Graham Jarvis wins XTINCTION II! Kyle Redmond had held the second place position throughout most of the event, with Brown in his shadows, but Mike made his move on the last lap, taking away the second step from the quiet Californian. Factory Husaberg’sNick Fahringer finished another 3 minutes back off the podium and Bobby Prochnau finishing in the 5th slot. All riders had completed five laps of the gruelling course.
CGRT/Husaberg/Royal Distributing/Parts Canada’sCole Dobovich, 17 years old, was the top Junior and took home the $500 Gas Gas Pacific Top Junior Award. Cole rode his FX 450 through 3 laps of the course, finding the event very intimidating, but pushing on to the finish 17th position.
