New Vintage Bike Challenge – The Bultaco
Identify this Bike
Here is a little hint :}
We had lots of comments and interest in the last vintage pic of the Poweroll 225 Honda. Keith Robinson and Joe Bonello nailed most of the details on that bike.
This Bultaco was my very first full size bike. After spending less than a year on an ancient Honda S65, I took it up a notch. I was twelve years old at the time and the Bultaco was pretty old when it came to me. I couldn’t touch the ground and kickstarting required a handy log or rock to stand on. Needless to say riding was more or less a sink or swim affair, learn quick or spend lots of time on the ground.
I have to tell you that nothing on this bike is exactly what it appears to be. It has parts of all kinds on it, so don’t make some pedestrian guess, like saying it is a Frontera. When this bike first came to me, for the sum of $50, it was sporting a magnificent black and gold Norton Commando gas tank. I don’t know what ever happened to that tank, wish I had it.
So your challenge: name the exact year, model and displacement of my first Bultaco. There is one really obvious feature on the bike, obvious to a Bultaco affectionado that is. Good luck
