Dakar Stage 10: Iquique to Arica
This thread will be updated through the morning as results come in.
113 motorcycles have taken the start of today’s stage 10. The track today is a mix of 377 km special stage followed by a 317 km transfer to Arica. Overnight many of the leaders, including the top KTM’s, have chosen to do an engine change. With the new rules, they take a 15 minute penalty for doing so. Among the leaders this will not have any significant effect on the standings.
Check 5 – There is a little change in the at the top this morning with Husqvarna’s Barreda leading the order by a couple of minutes. Here is how they came through the check; Barreda, Coma, Rodriguez, Despres, Svitko, Viladoms, Faria, Ullevalseter, Pedrero, Verhoeven. It appears that some of the top runners have struggled with navigation early in the stage also, but no one has gotten too far off course yet. Casteu is loosing more time with mechanical problems on his Yamaha.
Finish Line- Barreda wins Stage 10 for Husqvarna! Top riders just in, here is how they finished. Coma and Despres in dead heat for overall lead, after 10 days, just 23 seconds separate them. Will update with full results this afternoon ( I have to go riding).
