2012 Dakar Rally Stage 12
Today’s stage gets off to a late start and a shortened course. The riders have not reached the start of the days special yet, so let’s take a quick look back at yesterday. All of the riders we are following made it in safe and gained positions yesterday; Aubert, Birch, Sanz and Suesse.
The “marathon” stage meant that there was no service for the riders yesterday and last night was a big camp out. I have to imagine that I would be particularly cranky this morning if I had to sleep on the cold ground after a long day of riding. Here is this morning’s quote from Laia Sanz : “What a night I have had. Sleeping on the ground without a sleeping bag in the cold. I woke up every half hour and with how tired I was..this is the Dakar”. Here are a few pics from yesterday.

Check 4 – About half of the field of today’s 102 starters have cleared check 4. Here is the leader board; Coma, Barreda, Despres, Viladoms, Zanol, Svitco, Rodriguez, Faria, Gonclaves, Ullevalseter.
