The Dakar comes to a close. The final results almost came down to the wire, but problems two days ago decided the outcome. Cyril Despres is the Champion. His teammate Marc Coma has to settle for second place. Yamaha makes the podium with a fantastic ride from Helder Rodriguez.
Of the 188 riders that took the start in Mar del Plata, only 97 made it to Lima. Of the five American motorcycle entries, only one, our boy Ned Suesse, made it to the finish. What an amazing ride for a true sportsman. He rode consistent nearly everyday and only had one bad day due to some mechanical issues. Ned finishes 53rd overall in a heroic privateer effort. Chris Birch and female rider Laia Sanz also finished strong, both climbing in the rankings everyday.
So lets take a look at all the finishers. The list is long, but I figure if they made it all the way, they all deserve some credit.
