We are finishing up our Baja pre run for the annual Malcolm Smith 6 Days of Baja trip. We are in San Ignacio right now getting some dinner at Rice and Beans. We will probably drive a little more to get to Guerrero Negro for the night.
Actually we started yesterday morning here in San Ignacio. Our route was west towards the ocean, taking some new sandwashes out of town. We did a pretty standard route south to San Juanico. After that we tried out a different route, but it didn’t pan out quite the way we hoped. But some days that is just the way it goes.We did go through Comondu that was very scenic. We finished the day in Loreto.
My budget tires were completely trashed by the end of the day. To top it off I got a flat rear tire right at the top of the mountain that drops in to Loreto. So I rode down the hill, the last 10 miles, on the flat. Being as I needed to fix a flat, I went ahead and stole the spare tires out of the van a shoed them on. Today was much better with some actual knobbies to ride on. Riding with six gallons of gas and bald tires was kind of like riding an adventure bike all day.
Today we rode some other sections that were new to me. We hit Constitucion about noon. That was the end of the riding for this trip. So we loaded up the bikes and grabbed some lunch before getting in the van to start the trip back north.
It has been a good trip. Other than a few flat tires, all mine, we had no bike issues, just lots of riding. So here are a few more photos to round out the ride.
