Ivan Cervantes Debuts New Gas Gas EC450 4t
The first round of the championship of Spain became enduro this weekend in Vinaròs (Castellón) in a small world by bringing together a large group of international pilots who used the occasion to prepare the first Grand Prix of the season. This was the case of Gas Gas factory team, which not only moved to the coast of Castellón his team to Spain if not the entire composition of the gala. This not only allowed to enjoy a big debut of Ivan Cervantes with the new engine EC450F 4T Enduro 2 but also a remarkable performance by Sebastien Guillaume and Danny McCanney with EC300 in Enduro 3.
Ivan had a spectacular fight all day with Johnny Aubert, Christopher Guerrero, Eero Remes, Juha Salminen Joakim Ljunggren and Scratch for the win, making a tight second place after Aubert and against Guerrero. This same fight is moved to E2 with the same protagonists. At E3, Guillaume was to strength in its premiere with the new CE and second by Ljunggren and ahead of a sublime McCanney. The young man from the Isle of Man, champion of Europe in 2011, was the latest addition to official team Gas Gas and proved a serious candidate for the World Junior.
In E1, Gonçalo Reis and Joseph Rallo finished in an outstanding sixth and ninth place with Jordi Figueras EC250F and managed to finish ninth at E3. The second Spanish event will be held on March 18 in Antas (Almeria), starting one week before the World Cup in Chile.
“I can only be happy for this result. Start with this rate and these feelings is very important, and even more so when we have been struggling with many of the rival World Championship. We still have work to do, as our new 450 4T is a bike with little time to live, but to be a career test almost have shown that we are in good shape. We must continue to evolve, but we leave here with high hopes and full of win. “
“Everything is new for me. I had never raced in Spain and I’m used to the mud and snow, but I think it was good. Be on the podium was fantastic and I hope to do more races here and take all the experience possible.”

KTM ENDURO FACTORY TEAM IN GOOD FORM AT SPANISH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
KTM Factory riders took the opportunity to warm up for the start of the season on Sunday at the opening round of the Spanish National Championships at Vinaròs – Castellón with Johnny Aubert the fastest on the day.
“Johnny took the lead from the very first test and led throughout the day,” reported boss Fabio Farioli. “Cervantes and Cristobal Guerrero managed to get close a couple of times but in the end they couldn’t catch him. Remes had a slow start but was the fastest rider over the MX test,” he added. David Knight rode in the E3 class but had to retire after experiencing some clutch problems.
The team’s two French recruits, Antoine Meo and Christophe Nambotin did not race in Spain and are currently training at home in France.
The factory team’s bikes and equipment is being shipped to Chile this week ahead of the opening rounds in Talca on March 24-25. They will then go to Argentina for the next two rounds before returning to race in Europe.
The Enduro De Vinaros was held on Sunday at Castellon in southern Spain, which was also the first round of the Spanish Enduro Championship and 4 Husqvarna riders took part.
In E1, Matti Seistola conquered the podium on his 29th birthday finishing third behind Remes and Planet. Spaniard Santolino finished 5th, and now holds the second place in the ranking of the Spanish riders. Santolino has struggled to find the right rhythm, even by the tire/foam combination which was not the best solution for the racing terrain.
Salminen in E2 with the TE310 finished in fourth place and Joan Barreda, Team Husqvarna Speedbrain finished seventh.
