Well looky who was wrong, me! I could not be happier.
Great to see Colton Haaker making good. Colton has long shown that he had the skill to be a main event winner. A couple of years ago he was a literally the poster boy of Endurocross, as the best young rider and garnering sponsorship from Lucas oil (as well as lots of TV time). But for the last two years he has seemed out of focus, unable to repeat that early success. So good on ya’ Colton.
Look at what a stacked field this was. Any one of these guys could win a race this season. Taddy went down in the first turn of the main event and had to work his way up from dead last. He actually fell a couple of more times, but still worked clear up to third place, finishing just seconds behind the leader. He was right on the heels of second place finisher Justin Soule. Justin is another one of those riders who has regularly been on the podium. Not doubt he is due for a win and I think he has all the tools to do it; bike, team and rider.
I want to give a quick shout out to JG Off road rider Kevin Rookstool for getting into the main event, as well as RPM’s Bobby Prochnau. Both of these teams have been big influences in the series. PRM’s Kacy Martinez was second in the Women’s class and alumni Maria Forsberg took the win. Stay tuned for all the race reports as they come in.
Other class winners were Kurt Nicoll (Vet), Max Gerson (Am) and Phil Smage (Trialscross)
