Michael Lieb gets qualifier win as riders boycott event
The opening day of the Mexican GP ended in chaos as just two of the regular GP contingent – Michael Leib and Max Anstie – went to the start line of the two qualifying races together with 19 “locals” after a conflict over track conditions. The American was forthright in defending his decision to ride – and win: “Steve Dixon gave me the chance, and this is motocross. I think they (the riders who did not start) had a good point, but we flew here to race !
