Last weekend’s Wolverine XC OMA, the fourth round of the Parts Unlimited OMA series, took its toll on seasoned rider Scott Watkins. The American Honda/JG Off Road rider was unable to avoid a stump on the track, causing him to be catapulted over the handlebars.
“I was about two laps in and I just didn’t see it until I was right there,” Watkins said. “I went right over the handlebars.”
Watkins’ crash left him with a herniated disk in his back, but without any more serious injuries. Watkins will have an MRI later this week after swelling has diminished and from there will gauge when he can return to racing.
“I can’t really walk right now on my left side so I’m on crutches,” he said. “We were worried about my pelvis at first but everything’s fine. Once the swelling goes down, we’ll know more.”
The entire JG Off Road team hopes for a speedy recovery.
