I arrived in Sibiu last night after a long but un-eventful flight. It is beautiful here, the kind of place you see in post cards. Not much to report yet. Riders and crew are starting to roll in.
The news from Erzberg is the big topic of gossip here. With Graham Jarvis getting another DQ, most everyone thinks this is getting a little ridiculous and expect that the interest in that event will suffer because of it.
It looks like my bike for the race coverage will be a Husaberg FE570. It is a tour bike needs a little cosmetic tlc, makes me feel right at home. I think the other riders were a little intimidated about having to tackle the big open classer, so I volunteered to take it.
I met the organizers Martin and his wife Sigi last night. They have this cool compound in the middle of the quaint, old part of town area. Like many couples, Martin is in charge of the ideas and Sigi is the task master who has to make them happen. They are very hospitable and I am happy to be here.
So all looks good. The forecast is a little shaky, more rain on the way. We are going out to a little recon ride this afternoon. So I hope to have a better understanding of the course conditions after that.
