Monster Energy Kawasaki/Purvines Racing’s Jacob Argubright took top honors at the first annual Fireworks Extreme Enduro, in Reno Nevada. The event, which was part of the Monster Energy backed Fireworks 500 off road truck race, was the first of its kind in the Reno area.
In addition to the extreme terrain, heat played a major role in the difficulty of the event and only a select few would cross the checkered flag to record a finish.
“This was definitely one of the tougher races I have done.” Argubright Explained, “The course was really hard, but the heat was just something I have never experienced. To do a 4-hour race in 100-plus degree heat is just unheard of. I was glad when it was over!”
After qualifying first in the 10am qualifier, Argubright returned to the start at 2pm where he would start on row one and lead up and over the first hill. Nearly half the field dropped out after the first lap, but Argubright persisted and led from start to finish, never relinquishing the lead turning consistent 40-minute lap times.
“I can’t express how thankful I am for Erek and everyone involved with the event. If it was this tough for me to race, I can only imagine what the course prep was like. Monster Energy was a big sponsor of the whole weekend, so I am proud to put them and Purvines Racing on top of the podium.”
