Another good day of riding today. We got a group together to ride the Pine Mountain loop. This is the area where local desert races were staged many years ago, back when all the terrain was open.
I was nominated to lead the group today. It was really Paul Krause’s group, but he let me lead because I know the area. He rode sweep for the group. I was a little concerned because the first 10 miles had plenty of silt and rocks. Fortunately it turned to harder packed roads after that. So after a good challenging start, the rest of the day was beautiful riding. It was still dusty, but the group spread out to keep in cleaner air.
On the route we hit Horse Ridge, Pine Mountain, Derrick’s Cave, Fort Rock, Paulina Peak, China Hat and Boyd’s cave on the way back into town. It was about a 150 mile day and we got back to home base right at sunset.
So for me it’s a quick shower, dinner, beer, posting and off to bed to be ready to hit it again in the morning. As usual I realize I did not take nearly enough photos, I will try to do better tomorrow.
