HUSABERG READY FOR 2012 FIM INTERNATIONAL SIX DAYS ENDURO
EXCITING MIX OF FACTORY BACKED AND PRIVATEER RIDERS SET TO COMPETE ON HUSABERG MACHINERY AT 87TH ISDE
With no fewer than 24 nations fielding riders mounted on Husaberg machinery, including a surplus of World Trophy, Junior World Trophy and Women’s World Trophy team riders Husaberg are looking forward to the start of the 87th FIM ISDE in Saxony, Germany, which begins on Monday, September 24.
All but one of Husaberg’s factory stars will compete for their respective national teams. Pela Renet, the current leader of the Enduro 2 World Championship, makes his ISDE debut in the French World Trophy squad. Very much the team to beat, Renet’s contribution to the six-man squad will unquestionably play an important roll in ensuring France does all it can in order to secure a fourth win in five years.
Newly crowned Enduro Junior World Champion Mathias Bellino knows what it takes to ensure success at the ISDE having been a member of France’s victorious Junior World Trophy team at last years six days in Kotka, Finland. Armed with a 2013 FE 450 Mathias and his team mates will be doing all they can to secure a second consecutive win.
Joakim Ljunggren joins the Swedish World Trophy team once again as one of three Husaberg riders. With Sweden fielding a young team for this year’s event, Joakim lines up alongside Johan Edlund and Martin Larsson. “I’m looking forward to the six days and racing the 2013 bike for the first time internationally,” commented Joakim. “I’ve had some time to get the new bike set-up well, so let’s see how the race goes. We have a young Swedish World Trophy team this year, so it’ll be good to see how we get on against France, USA and Finland. The ISDE is very different to the Enduro World Championship. It’s a very big event, and anything can happen, but I’m looking forward to it.”
As well as Renet, Bellino and Ljunggren’s inclusion into their national squads no fewer than 17 countries will feature Husaberg mounted riders within their World Trophy, Junior World Trophy and Women’s World Trophy squads. For some it’s most certainly a case of ‘in at the deep end’ at this year’s event.
Jamie McCanney, the Isle of Man youngster who claimed a double runner-up result at the recent EWC GP of Finland has been drafted into Great Britain’s World Trophy team as replacement for the injured David Knight. A likely candidate for a spot on GB’s Junior World Trophy team, Jamie is only now returning to full race fitness following injuries sustained at the EWC opener in Chile and moves into the senior team as the squad’s official reserve competitor.
Another Husaberg mounted rider to look out for in the Enduro 1 class is Italian Thomas Oldrati. A last minute inclusion in the Italian Junior Trophy team, Thomas, who has delivered some of his best result in the Enduro World Championship in recent events, will race aboard a 2013 FE 250.
Trials turned indoor and extreme enduro specialist Alfredo Gomez lines up for the start of the event as a member of the Spanish Junior World Trophy Team. A six days rookie, Gomez will be hoping to do his bit to bring Spain’s junior team back to the podium having finished sixth last year in Finland.
In the Club team competition there are a number of notable Husaberg entrants. Aside from the many Husaberg mounted races spread throughout the category the entire Brazilian contingent have placed their trust in Husaberg products using exclusively 250cc and 300cc two-stroke machines. In addition one of the Netherland’s four Club teams – v.d Velden Husaberg Team – is 100 per cent Husaberg.
As in previous years Husaberg are present at the event with a bike rental programme, with 19 customers from 10 countries including all six Brazilian entrants opting to use the service. In addition Husaberg have 20 race service customers.
Based at the Sachsenring road race circuit this year’s event sees competitors faced with 1000km of tracks, trails and special tests, with days one and two utilising the same track, days three and four, which are expected to be the hardest, using a second, different, track, before a third course is used for day five. As is tradition day six features the end-of-event final motocross races.
The 2012 FIM International Six Days Enduro starts in Saxony, Germany on September 24th, and concludes on Saturday, September 29th.
