New TR650 Hits The Street
I got a chance to take a quick look at the newest Husqvarna today. This is the replacement model for the TE650, the new more street oriented 2013 TR650. I am scheduled to get a first ride test and review in two weeks.
For now, here are some detailed photos of the new model. If you were wondering how this bike can have a sub seven thousand dollar price tag, here it is. As far as the level of detail and components go, this is something different from the traditional “top shelf” European bike.
The 650 Terra is not the bike intended to go toe to toe with the KTM 690 enduro. The price point and detail show this to be a bike that is directly aimed at the Kawasaki KLR 650 and similar bikes. I have no doubt this new model will see success. How can it miss? Even with less than stellar components, it is priced well and brings a long needed update in style and motor to the single cylinder dual sport/utility class.
It is certainly an interesting change of direction for the German-Italian marque. In this case it becomes another new model that more closely resembles something from the BMW lineup than a traditional Husky.
