I am not the only one who gets to have awesome adventures in Baja
Breauxman prepares for his solo trek to La Paz
Of course there are all those intrepid racers preparing to leave Ensenada in two days to tackle the Baja. Each of them deserve credit for their efforts, regardless of speed. Often it is the slower of the riders who have to work even harder to finish the race, the ones who will be looking at the clock and the 45 hour time limit for the 2012 Baja 1000. For many, the clock will be their real competition, not just the other teams in the race.
But our friend Scotty Bloom, aka Breauxman, is in the midst of his own adventure right now. Scotty is not a racer, just another Baja junkie with a motorcycle and a day job. He works with the website Race-dezert.com to help bring all the coverage of motorcycles racing Baja.
For this event he will be in La Paz covering the finish line as the bikes arrive. To get to La Paz, Scotty climbed on board his trusty XR650 and is in the midst of riding the entire Baja 1000 course, solo to get to the southern end of the peninsula.
He has chosen to take on this challenge of his own. Even I think it is quite an adventure to ride the entire race course without a chase crew. Scotty is currently in the middle of his trek and is having a few challenges of his own, including losing his rear wheel bearing near Loreto yesterday.
So take a look at the link and keep up with all his exploits at this link. He also has some great photos up of the people and places he encounters along the way.
