12:58 am – just in from Chilly via phone – Honda has a big lead now. 8x is at least 20 min back and currently missing. Cody has crashed, looks like he may have a broken leg, KTM team Dr. is waiting for Cody to arrive at Santa Rita, someone is supposed to be bringing him by car. Kurt is on the Bike. The crash apparently happened before the scheduled rider change.

6:30 – The first bikes are just going off the line. All the riders are watching the sun come up over Ensenada hoping the dust will not be too bad when they point towards the horizon. I am sitting in El Rosario enjoying a cup of coffee and just getting ready to order a lobster omelette at Mama Espinoza’s. Rough being me 🙂
We will head out to El Crucero in a few minutes to watch the bikes come through. We will not have good cell or internet service until we hit the highway north of San Ignacio sometime after noon. But we will post the best we can. Neena will be getting texts from some of our friends out on the course and posting them also.
7:20 – The 5x KTM is the only pro motorcycle running the live tracking. You can follow it at this link: http://irctracking.com/2012/Baja1000/North/. Click on motorcycles and select 5x.
