THR Motorsports/Monster Energy/Precision Concepts –Robby Bell came into the final round leading the Pro GP and the 4-Stroke Expert points. He had an outside shot at the Heavyweight Title, but would need some help for that one. The big question was how much energy would he have as he has been fighting a flu virus for nearly two weeks. The Saturday Pro Race would go for nearly two hours. Robby gated third, then moved to second in the first corner. He settled in there for two lap following Colton Udall, as these two stretched out a large gap on the field. On the third lap, he pulled the trigger and moved to first. For the next few laps he pulled out a 20 second lead. Then the last two laps, he popped the field and pulled out to over one minute at the finish.
The 4-Stroke Expert Race he gated second behind Timmy. Then starting the second lap, He jumped over Timmy on a huge infield double and took the lead. From there he controlled the race to the finish taking the win.
In the Heavyweight Expert Race, He was finally feeling the effects of the flu. He gated third, and fought hard. In the middle of the race, he made up some time and started to close the gap to the leaders. But with two laps to go, he realized he couldn’t get the championship, so there was no point in taking chances. He settled for third.
For the season, Robby won two Big 6 championships;
AMA West Coast GP Series Pro Class Championship
4-Stroke Heavyweight Expert Championship
As this year is coming to a close, we will start to work on next year. It is our plan to keep things rolling and ramp up our effort. We will be focusing on certain races more and will go after Championships in every series we race. Thanks for all the support and I will be announcing our plans soon.
From JCR Honda – Congratulations to our very own Timmy Weigand 2012 AMA D-37 Champion.
The final round of the AMA Big 6 series was held this past weekend at Pala MX. The laps were hovering in the 9 min range for the pros. The course consisted of some great MX track sections and high speed hard packed Off-Road sections. Timmy holeshot the race, he and Colton Udall had a good moto going for the final 45 min race finishing a JCR/Honda 1-2 for the moto. Over the 2012 season Timmy and Colton split time on Eric Siraton prepped Honda CRF450R’s and X’s. Timmy won 5 of the 8 rounds and secured his AMA D-37 Big 6 championship by winning the final moto of the year.
“It was great to finish up the 2012 Big 6 series with a Championship following up our recent Baja 1000 Championship. I’m looking forward to next weekends Johnny Campbell Christmas Classic and then a few weeks off for some much needed Family time. The D-37 crews did an amazing job putting together all 8 rounds of the series. The tracks were always prepped and watered well. The Big 6 community is the backbone of Off-Road racing and the 2013 season looks to be the best yet. I want to thank Eric Siraton for always going above and beyond, Johnny Campbell for his support all year, John Parkinson for having my back all year, my wife and kids for always supporting me and my teammate Colton Udall for pushing me to be the best I can be.” — Timmy Weigand
