Nate at Dirt Tricks recently sent us their new KTM radiator fan kit to test. The kit is a super simple, manual switch unit. The installation is also very easy. It probably takes as much time to remove and re-install the seat and tank as it does to actually put the fan on. As a KTM specific unit, everything falls right into place and looks like it will be very durable.
The kit is designed to work best on 2011 to current models. In our case, I decided to add it to the 2010 KTM 300xcw project bike. Like most things orange, it all fits just fine, it just took a slight modification to the shroud to allow access to the on/off switch. As you can see in the photo, a small mod to one of the existing shroud holes allows easy access to the switch. On the newer KTM models, the switch sits in the existing cut out of the plastic. It can also be adapted to current Husaberg models, again with just a slight cut to the shrouds.
The wiring is all high quality and includes and in-line fuse and connectors to mount directly to the battery terminals. All in all it looks like a nice product and we are ready to take it out riding.
