125 Pro Mx Returns!
2 Stroke Mx Champ
We went out to Glen Helen yesterday to see and compete in the two stroke only racing. It promised to be a unique day of racing and it certainly lived up to the billing. When was the last time you saw a stacked field of pros in a 2t only race? When was the last time you saw a bona fide 125cc pro race? When was the last time you saw Husqvarna win a pro motocross? Well it all happened at Glen Helen yesterday and we were there to witness.
Oh, I also took the 1992 KTM out for a little spin. I raced two classes. It wasn’t very fast, but I sure turned a few heads. Many people said it was the coolest bike there for the day. In reality, the FMF KTX 500( KX500 in a KTM Dungey Replica frame) was probably the most awesome bike in attendance and I have the photos to go with it.
The highlight of the day was the 125 pro class. With an entire field of Husky tiddlers provided to top riders, it was an intense battle. KTM wanted to upset the day and brought Billy Laninovich out to challenge the Italians. Billy got the holeshot in both motos and showed great form, but the Husky’s were too much for him over the long motos. Blake Savage took the overall win for Husky.
The off road community was well represented. Bobby Garrison won the second 125 moto showing great speed and endurance. His crash in the first moto put him back in the overall. Other great rides came from Colton Udall, Jamie Lanza and Gary Sutherlin.
WORCS racer Justin Jones also had a good day along with his dad Gary Jones. Sebastian Tortelli was also fast, but had brake issues in his second moto. KTM’s Mike Sleeter had a rough day, he looked to struggle in the first pro moto and got hit by another rider in the second.
