Clay City, Ky – The overnight rain greeted the racers to slimy conditions. It would eventually dry up into near perfect soil conditions and on this tight and hilly course it would be needed.
Alex Whitkoski got the jump on the field aboard his T&T Motorsports, Novik Gloves, O’Neal, Spider Graphix, Dragon Goggles, SSR Training, Aser Clothing, Clockwork KTM, Ryno Power backed KTM with Jared Whitaker and Steven Squire close behind. Squire jumped into the lead before heading into the woods but the trio stayed close for the first lap battling the tricky hills and off chambers.
Lap two would be eventful for the front runners. Squire would have a few little problems on lap two,” I struggled with a couple off-cambers up hills”, which allowed Whitaker to get close. Whitkowski dropped back after a flat early in the lap.
After a pit, the pair left the pits in a good battle. With a much quicker pace they were pushing each other to see who would make a mistake. They came together at the top of a hill putting a whole in the radiator of Whitaker’s WPS/FLY, Gateway Cycles, BH2 Suspension, Lucas Oils, Sunstar, EVS, Dragon, Pirelli, NoToil, Works Connection, HBD MotoGrafx, Tire Balls, Gaerne, & Acerbis backed Kawasaki. With Whitaker limping back to the the pits, Whitkowski with his flat rear tire was back into second.

Very slippery conditions is what the youth classes got to showcase their skills on. This courses had a very big uphill and downhill and three deep water crossings. Logan Pike, Hunter Downs and Ethan Marsh stayed close on their KTM’s. All three displayed their talent in these tough conditions. Pike ended up picking up the win by 3 minutes over Downs with Marsh a lap down.
