BAJA PITS 4 RM 160
1x HONDA’s DAVID KAMO opens up 2 min lead
Ramirez 2x Passed 4x David Pearson
14x Ryan Abatoye 13 minutes off the lead
8x Samuels 9:20
Honda 5 – El Diablo
Colton crushed everyone (edit) over summit, gave Kamo the bike with 8 min lead, Robby came by looking good. 2x another 10 back clearly crashed, Justin Jones appeared to be on bike out of the chopper. Number plate missing, no status on rider. I think it was Kurt who would have been on the bike. Another 10 min to 14x, Ryan Abbatoye on bike looked good.
Rumor is Kurt did crash and may have broken wrist, Pearson has also crashed and is ok, but out for the day. Robby and Taylor will take over the rest of Pearson’s section – Neena
Reports are 1x has 11 min lead with Kamo on the bike
1:50 – Chilly Checking In
I am sitting in cafe in Ojos Negros. It must be 100 degrees out. They have the military checkpoint backed up about a half hour. They wouldn’t let me to the front, they usually do for bikes, so I just went into town to do this update.
Colton absolutely dominated the early part of the race. He was absolutely spent when he got off the bike. Neena read my earlier text wrong, he didn’t crash, he CRUSHED it over the summit! Davey Kamo was in great shape, knowing they had a good lead, when he got on the bike.
As you know by now, both Kurt Caselli and David Pearson look to have suffered crashes, and now I hear that Henge has also. Strong riding by Colton at the front of the pack made everyone push a little extra and it looks to have taken a toll.
When the 2x came by me at El Diablo, it looked that Justin Jones was on the bike, having gotten out of the helicopter to take over from Kurt whenever he had his crash.
At this point Honda looks to be over 20 minutes ahead and can just cruise it in for a win. Hope all goes well for them, they have done well today and it will be hard earned.
Here are a few quick pics. Look for unofficial results later and the REAL results in the morning. We won’t take anything for granted just based on finishing order!
