HRC Honda Ready For Desafio Ruta
Team HRC is all set for the fourth round of the FIM Cross Country Rally World Championship – the Desafio Ruta 40, which will be held in Argentina from 17-22 June.
The 2013 edition of the Desafio Ruta 40 heads out from San Salvador de Jujuy and will finish in San Juan some 3500km (2200 miles) and 2000km of special test later, after a total of six days of racing.
As one of South America’s best-known and best-loved races, it is equally popular with all the top international rally riders, thanks to its range of varied terrain as well as for being the closest thing in the Cross Country Rally FIM calendar to what can be expected in the next Dakar 2014.
This will be an important test for Team HRC to see how well the riders are shaping up and bonding together, as well as being a great test-bench to fine-tune some of the technical modifications of the Honda CRF450 Rally machine.
The bike, still in its 2013 version, will be ridden by Portuguese Helder Rodrigues and local Argentine hero Javier Pizzolito.
Monday 17 June sees the first 540km stage, with 371km of special test, taking the competitors from San Salvador de Jujuy to San Miguel de Tucuman.
Helder Rodrigues #3:
I want to put in a good race as I wasn’t really happy with the last two in Abu Dhabi and Sardinia. I’ll do my best. It’ll also be important to familiarize myself with the kind of terrain that we’ll come up against in the next Dakar.
Javier Pizzolito #7:
This race will help me improve my riding on rocky terrain, and will serve to build a rapport with my team-mate Helder in the run-up to the Dakar ‘14. Ruta 40 also forms a part of the Argentinian national championship, which I am currently leading, so I’ve got to get a result.
Martino Bianchi – General Manager Team HRC Rally:
The Desafio Ruta 40 is particularly important for the team and riders in such a strategic moment of the season. It’ll be the last race on terrain similar to that of the Dakar, so it will give us the chance to test some of the new technical features of the bike, and see how our riders are shaping up for the event.
