Colin Edwards to race Baja 1000

Now here is something you don’t see everyday, a MotoGP rider getting ready to race the 2013 Baja 1000. You heard it right, Colin Edwards is in Baja as we speak, prepping for the upcoming race.

The timing seems a bit off for prerunning, but I am sure Colin has plenty of schedule conflicts with the remaining GP races, so he has to go when he can.

Maybe this will convince his compatriots to come join in the fun, we could have a MotoGP Baja class. It might be a good chance for the Americans to show their dirt bike skills off. While Colin is not quite at the front of the MotoGP races anymore, he still battles to be the best of the CRT class bikes. Similarly, Nicky Hayden battles for the Ducati class win each race too. We know Nicky has some serious dirt bike background.

Thanks to our reader Curtis for bringing this one to our attention.

He’s also supporting “race for the wounded”. I’m really excited about the Baja news. Always cool when the pros try a different type racing.

Sorry CB, you mean the bold “follow the Texas Tordado Fan Page”. No, I don’t click and follow anyone and I won’t click this one either. I just read the stories as they are posted. My bad.

Can you see the link at the bottom of Chilly’s article? Yeah, the one that says “You can follow the Texas Tornado at his fan page” use it.
Colin was a Yamaha supported MX racer as a kid. He was/is amazing! He’s one of those guys that could have had a pro career in either discipline. He chose roadracing.

CW,is this the “un-story” story teaser?

“Colin Edwards coming to the Baja 1000″? Ummm, ok.

With who? Buddies, pals, other road racers or a transfer rider on a factory team? What class? Sportsman, Class 21 or a pro 22? Or is he a class 23 ironman solo? On a Yamaha? Really? There hasn’t been a big name on a Yamaha in decades. Does Edwards have some off roads roots that we don’t know about?? Little known fact is Eddie Lawson used to ride Barstow to Vegas while he was world 500CC road race champion and did pretty well. This could be big if Baja attracts some “cross over” talent. SCORE could use the press.

    More please, we need more.
