Taylor Robert earned a few thousand new fans today as he raced his way to a prologue win against a strong field of riders. In his heat race Taylor had a large enough lead to throw his chain two turns from the finish and still win. He was able to push out of the rocks, roll the chain back on and cross the line first.
In the other pro heat race Alfredo Gomez won over Jonny Walker. Jonny threw his chain also but was able to pass his way back to second place.
In the final it was all Taylor. With little room to pass, Taylor made an aggressive start to come out of the first turn with the lead. Nearly the entire field got bottled behind him as they all tried to pass through the bull ring door together. Jonny Walker emerged second and kept Taylor in sight for most of the race. Jonny had one shot at Taylor when they passed a lapper in the tires, but both riders bobbled and they emerged in the same positions. Later Graham Jarvis would get a shot at Jonny in the same spot but Jonny muscled his way through to stay in front.
Taylor will get a 2 minute head start on all the field for tomorrow’s main event.
