It was a challenging day of racing at the 2013 Tecate Hare Scrambles. The cool weather and light rain combined made the ground good, but the riding hard. Keeping goggles on was a real task. The club once again cut large sections of new trail. Most of it was so tight that first gear was the only gear. The brush was also very heavy, particularly the manzanita.
Ivan Ramirez got the holeshot on the pro class. But Gary Sutherlin made a quick pass and set off to lead the first lap. It took the pros 1:07 to complete the first 24 mile loop. Ivan was able to get out of the pits in front of Gary to lead into the second lap. But Gary would find his way back to the front and win by just over two minutes. For most of the race the two leaders were never out of sight of each other.
The battle between Eric Yorba and Justin Morgan would be much the same. Eric came out on top to take third place. It was a good turn out with 90 riders showing for the afternoon race and nearly as many for the AM event. You will see a few more familiar names in the results, including class winners Kellon Walch, Ty Davis and of course Larry Roseler
