We have just arrived in San Quintin to finish the first day of our over the mountains trek. It has been a great day for riding, perfect spring weather. We started the day with food at Acambaro and then tackled the trophy girl trail. A few more bikes have been through and swept it. It seemed much easier this time, but knowing what was in store let me be less anxious about what lie ahead too. We cruised right through it.
Later we decided to make some new trail. It turned out to mostly be an endeavor of slogging our way through the brush. I kept thinking that this is the kind of thing that breaks bikes. Right as we hit the end of the new section we were making, I heard and odd metallic clink down by the wheel. I didn’t think much of it. Just as we blended onto the existing trail I went to grab the front brake and got nothing but a hand full of lever. I looked down and could see my brake pin sticking out. I figured it had come lose. Pulling it out I could see that it actually broke and I lost one pad. Needless to say the pad was nowhere to be found. But I was able to ride out the day with no issue and am hoping to find some parts here tonight.
