BLAZUSIAK WINS RED BULL 111 MEGAWATT HARD ENDURO
Red Bull KTM factory rider Taddy Blazusiak topped the podium in his own signature event, the inaugural Red Bull 111 Megawatt Hard Enduro on Sunday at home in Poland in the dramatic setting of the open pit coalmine in Bełchatów. KTM factory teammates Jonny Walker and Andreas Lettenbichler took the two minor podium places.
The event attracted almost 500 hundred aspiring riders who pitted their skills against the KTM trio, all domiant riders in international competition.
Riders had to complete a 45 km long course over stones, sand, special obstacles and jumps, making it a spectacular day out for both competitors and fans in a race that went down to the wire beween Taddy Blazusiak and Jonny Walker. Taddy, a five-times winner of the notorious Red Bull Hare Scramble at Austria’s Erzbergrodeo and a five times AMA EnduroCross champion was able to showcase his exceptional skills in front of his home crowd and was the first to cross the line.
Red Bull-sponsored Blazusiak: “I was trying hard not to make any mistakes and follow my strategy. I did my best, and even though I knew it wasn’t going to be easy, I really wanted to win in front of my home crowd. It was an honour to ride here with all the support from so many fans. I’m proud that we managed to organise such event in our country!”
The 23-year-old Walker and also a double Erzbergrodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble winner said he was impressed with the event, the atmosphere and the crowd support.
With KTM’s Andreas Lettenbichler, a veteran a competitor in hard enduro competiton, taking third place, the top five on the results sheet was rounded off by Łukasz Kurowski, multiple Polish Motocross Champion and European Enduro Champion and Sylwester Jędrzejczyk, Polish Enduro Vice-Champion.
