Oats, they are good for the body. Store bought granola is just too sweet, bland and expensive for me. So I have spent quite a bit of time fiddling with my own design. I think I have nailed it, so here you go. Nothing set in stone here, tweak it in any way that suits your tastes.
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil ( use cup for oil first, then honey, won’t stick)
1/4 Cup Honey (mix in 1T Molasses for more complex flavor)
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
4 Cups Oats (regular old fashion)
1 Cup Nuts (walnuts are my fav, almonds would be more conventional)
1 Cup Mixed Seeds (sunflower, pepino, flax, chia) whatever suits you
3/4 Cup unsweetened Coconut
1 Cup Raisins and/or Crazins
In large bowl mix wet ingredients and spices. Then add oats, nuts, seed, coconut. Raisins are not added until after cooking.
Spread out gently on greased cookie sheet, do not pack down. Bake 20-30 mins at 275 degrees until lightly browned. Time can be varied to suit taste.
Next up I am going to look at what mods would be needed to make this into an energy bar. And maybe add some peanut butter to it.
